Aquaponics

As far as I know, the fish in aquaponics are there to make ammonia that breaks down to feed the plants. I haven’t heard of any seaweeds that produce ammonia while they grow–I’d love to hear about it too if anyone knows of any. I have a batch of google alerts set to tell me about any new methods of producing ammonia–I think ammonia will be a big player in renewable replacements for fossil fuels in the near future. If anyone hears of any bacterial methods of ammonia (or methanol) production, please message me on here
